Through experience and feedback from the recipients, gift cards are their favs. A teenage girl may prefer a specific card from her favorite store, be it Bath and Body, Wal-Mart, Sports Clothing store, Music store, etc. When I first did this a few years back with the teens in my family, I was stressed to the max trying to figure out what each would want or need. I had a conversation with a fellow shopper who was a grandmother of 8 teens and she shared the success that she had with the gift cards. At first I thought it seemed somewhat impersonal or not quite specific to the teen, but then I realized.....Hey, let them choose what they want and there won't be any mistakes, disappointments, returns, etc. What teen doesn't enjoy spending money or something they really want? And wow!, to receive several cards which add up to make for a cool shopping spree! I make sure I include a little note of love and Happy Shopping.

i would definitely suggest gift cards. at 14, teenagers are so difficult & picky sometimes. they are in between everything. finding out her favorite stores will help you a whole lot more specifically where to get the gift card for. also, you can pick out a few little things from there to go with the gift card. most likely, if she says she loves a certain store, she probably likes EVERYTHING they sell for the most part. i know i was that way when i was younger.

the new video ipod for movies, a cell phone like the LG chocolate, clothes from a decent store, but i would get a teen to approve those clothes, better yet a gift card for the store, dvds from her fav genre, a new laptop, things like this are good for her.
