It is a poem of the mythological history of creation with a theme and message of change.

We just finished reading a bit of that in English class. I believe my English teacher said that there is no true unifying message, and if there is it's been lost through history.. But then again, he's not the brightest crayon in the box. The only similarity among all of the stories is, of course, the transformations or form of change that occur in each one.. Hope that helps somehow.
