Whose death in a movie made you cry/feel sorry for that person?
(Please state the character/actor and the movie. A brief description is also great)

Mine would have to be the death of Russell Casse (Randy Quaid) in Independence Day. He was misunderstood throughout the movie as a whacko with a family. However, in the end, he makes the most valiant sacrifice to crash his plane into the alien ship's death ray, saving humanity. Both the actual death and the lead-up to the death made me cry, especially when he said that he loved his children.

Captain John H. Miller (Tom Hanks) in "Saving Private Ryan".

Captain Miller has led his squad thru the D-day landings... across the French countryside in search of Pvt. Ryan. And as the movie comes to a close, he is shot and dies slowly. What REALLY jerks the tears is Private Ryan 50 years later, kneeling before the grave of Captain Miller on Omaha Beach and crying... hoping that he has lived a life worthy of Captain Miller sacrificing himself.

Dang I'm crying just remembering it :((

For me, it's Brian's Song, the true story of the friendship between Gayle Sayers and Brian Piccolo who were teammates on the Chicago Bears. For those who may not know, Brian Piccolo died of lung cancer and the most poignant scene in the movie was when Gayle Sayers said goodbye to his friend on his deathbed.
