Straight A's aren't enough. Yale and the other top schools don't accept the top students from each school - more like each state, or less. You have to have something special and unique to get into Yale, or Harvard, or Princeton.

I think for first year all the above advice is perfectly relevant and you should listen to it. Please also remember you can always get in your sophomore year if you have high grades your first year in college and reapply. This is an option if you do not get in the first time around. I must disagree with my friend down below I personally know four people who recently got into Harvard and Yale the second year. They got in due to the usual amount of people leaving as well as being extremely good students themselves in high school and their first year of college. They did not come from wealthy families but from middle class families. Also, I am a relative of several university professors. It is a known fact that it is usually easier to get into most school the second year. Although keep in mind, some to perhaps all of your classes might not transfer and your GPA will be completly new. As for Princeton not accepting transfer students, I have to assume they know what they are talking about there; I have no connections there.

Yale University is located in New Haven, Connecticut. I have known a few people that applied there. All of them had 4.0 grade point averages (straight As) and scored in at least the 98th percentile on standardized tests (SAT/ACTs). One of the five people I knew actually got in. Yale is tough, and along with excellent grades, you need to demonstrate outstanding commitment to other activities in life.

yale wants to see that you are extremely intelligent, passionate, interesting, and curious. consistently high grades demonstrate that, although a B is not a dealbreaker.
if you are interested in going to yale, i would suggest that you stop capitalizing every word, and find out where it is (new haven, CT).

You need to be pretty smart, but you don't need straight As. However, you do need to demonstrate strong leadership skills from a very young age. They look at more than your numbers.
Yale is in New Haven, Connecticut.

Yes you do. You would also have to get a really high SAT score (in the top 10% or something) and a really high ACT score.
