I'm on the west coast, but I intend to watch the show. I see the information on Dish network, it is a parody of the JonBenet Ramsey story.

I don't know that I'd call it a parody; all the Law and Orders do these "ripped from the headlines" cases that closely parallel cases that have been in the media.
Yes, this one is definitely based on the JonBenet Ramsey case.

Yes it was. But the neighbor did it. His son accidentally hit the girl in the nose, caused a nose bleed she cried so he pushed her face into the couch, she passed out, Jamie thought she was dead and ran home and told his parents. His dad went over found her alive while his mom made the ransom call. Nate Royce banged her head causing her death. Why they never really seemed to clear up, he said he did it to protect his son, but it didn't make sense. He made sure Jamie stayed on drugs and booze to keep him quiet for the last 14 years, when Jamie got sober he found the other guy to take the fall.

Yes, I watched it the other night, and that was the first thing I thought of.
I also watched the regular "Law & Order" last night (with Chevy Chase acting as a drunk, anti-Semite actor) and that's so obviously written with Mel Gibson and his drunken anti-semite ranting in mind.
