After recording my singing through a microphone, I'd like to burn it on a CD. I think I can burn the CD if I could only figure out how to record to my computer. Can you help me?

You need to plug your mic into your computer - if you have a decent mic you might need to convert the plug down to a 3.5mm jack. You will need some decent ish audio recording software - sound recorder on windows will only do 60 seconds at a time. Adboe audition is very good for this. You then need to go to audio properties - right click on speaker icon by clock. Go to recording properties and check that microphone is enabled. Then away you go.

I can help you... BUT it's pretty complicated.. AND to do it right you'll be talking about spending a LOT of cash.

I do this all the time so I've been down the road yer just beginning.. it's taken me 5 years to get tp pro level.. (don't believe me...) check out the songs I've tracked in my home studio... at www.myspace.com/jwoo10

I track music with people from all over the world... folks whom I've never even met before BUT we have cd's for sale in just about every country on the planet..... ALL recorded in our separate home studios and put together via the internet.

here's my set up.. (I track an acoustic set of drums)... I have a special sound card.... an M-Audio Delta 1010LT , I have a 12 Channel Mixing Board and 7 microphones. a Pair of studio monitors and of course all the cables to hook it all together...
As well as a computer recording software called Cubase SX....

You'd need a similar set-up... Only a smaller mixer and perhaps a smaller (channel wise) sound card IF you're ONLY going to track vocals..through a mic.

I WOULD, however suggest a Large Diaphram Condensor mic... it's what real studios use to record vocals with.

Once you have all this you'll need to set it all up so that you can record the vocals and mix it down using the software.....

This is a REAL quick intro to computer recording 1 o 1.... but I only mention all this to let you see that in order to do it RIGHT you'll need the RIGHT equipment.... and some $$$

ALSO... you asked about burning the songs to CD's... ALL of the music recording software that I've come across has the ability to do that.... it's the EASY part

Okay I do this all the time, so I could definitely help you.

You have to MAKE a WAV file

1. Okay you need a program, to record your voice so you can play it back using windows media player. You need a special software, I use Magix, get that or Cubase or Dance Ejay. Install anyone of them.

2. You'll see a record button. Trust me it's there. And hook-up the microphone. Then press the record button, and sing and when you finish, STOP the recording then you'll see the file. You can press play and you'll hear yourself. Now we want to save that file as a WAV.

3. Okay, FIND this option on one of those softwares you install." Export file, or Export Wave file" When you see that, click it and you'll save your voice as a file. Maybe "myvoice.wav". You can click that file and it will always play you sining. Now this file is what you can burn to a blank cd.

BURNING the CD
How to copy that saved file you made to a blank CD, so you can hear it when you play the cd in the car.

1. Now sweety, whooo listen use windows media player to do this. They have all the help files. I would explain but TRUST me if Yahoo had pics I coulda post, I'd show you through pictures. But windows Media can help you burn that file you saved.

Listen email me if you get stuck and I'll have to send you pictures via email explaining it step by step.

I really want this to work for you, and I'm by your side here, again IF you get stuck email me.
