I was involved in a head on collision early september and was taken to the ICU with a brain contusion. About three weeks after the accident I started having what we think are seizures. I've had 4 in total and I'm always by myself so we don't really know what is going on other than I wake up from the floor with no memory of how I got there. Has anybody else experienced this?

any time there is an injury to the brain, there is a potential for seizure activity associated with that trauma. You should be seeing a neurologist and getting a work up done which includes, EEG, CT and MRI.

A fried of mine did after a concussion. But only once, and it was just a few hours after the concussion. I had a concussion also, but I never suffered any seizures. So I suppose it's possible, but three weeks later?? I don't know. I do know that seizures can accompany certain antidepressant use or cold turkey cessation of chronic alcohol consumption. So, if you're not an alcoholic or don't take any drugs, it's tough to say exactly what might be causing the seizures. I know they're quite scary to witness and potentially very dangerous, so you might want to get an EEG and get to the bottom of it before you have one while driving and really get into trouble.

I have epilepsy and I take medication and had surgery for it. Yes, I have experienced exactly what is happening to you and it definitely sounds like you are having seizures. Seizures sometimes start in people who have had head injuries and there can be a time lag before they occur. In my case, no cause was ever determined but the condition is controlled now. It is very unsettling when you wake up somewhere and don't remember it occuring. When I was about 15 I would go to bed and then wake up to find myself on the floor somewhere in my bedroom and I was having grand mal and petit mal seizures during that time in my life. (I am 44 now) You need to be under the treatment of a neurologist and try to find some medicine that helps you and discuss your condition. I have empathy for you, please seek help and do what you can for yourself nutrition-wise.
