Ultimately the answer is subject to opinion, but just about any brand-name synthetic should be fine, unless your owner's manual calls for something specific. The main thing I've noticed since I began using synthetic oil in both my vehicles (an '06 Honda CR-V and a '10 Subaru Forester) is that there is no or minimal shudder upon start up in very cold weather (as in about 10 degrees F and below). With dino oil, my vehicles would shake like the devil upon turning the key in such temperatures after sitting outside all day or overnight, for about the first half-minute or so. I will venture to say that the easier cold-weather start-ups with synthetic are most likely much easier on the engines.

Most definitely it is Amsoil. Mobil 1 may have the most advertising and consumer retailers but Amsoil has the most complete line of Synthetic Motor Oils available from any single manufacturer.
Amsoil also has additional products such as pre-oilers and bypass oil filters to help you give your automobiles engine extended life, which of course is the intent of good oil and preventative maintenance.
See their website below and you will see just how comprehensive their product line is.

Sorry guys, MOBIL1 is rated #2. Amsoil is the best, and the oldest in the synthetic market. They also make among the best oil filters (NEVER NEVER NEVER buy Fram!!!)

Mobile 1. Amsoil is a cult. They use some bizarre tests that are totally irrelevant to the real world to claim they're better.
