I know that someone called the FBI and then called Yahoo and told them that they had done so and the site cleaned up really quickly....shows you that y/answers can do it when they have to....now we also have a class action lawsuit in progress to force Yahoo answers to submit the real user names behind the avatars....that'll cause some minor's parents a little financial chaos and some adults a lot of grief...but in the meantime I guess all we can do is keep ignoring them...and NOT answering their questions....I don't even have time to report them anymore...If we could just train ourselves to ignore them they'll go away...lets's just try it for 1 night?.

People have received death threats and slanderous material on here...as far as I know those are federal crimes...much like child porno is a crime on the internet....and no I don't advocate reporting them...that doesn't do much good...just ignore them

I'm not sure what can be done. I've run into many a troll on the internet, every messageboard has them. I've tried the old reporting routine but inevitably they come back under a different user name. Unless Yahoo starts to police the boards more strictly I don't see anything changing. Best thing to do is ignore and DO NOT reply to their postings. Trolls are posting to get attention and make people angry. Replying to them only exacerbates the situation.

I understand what you are saying, I will still report them though. I am thinking that the Hebrews in Germany may have thought something similar before Hitler rose to power. I can't just walk away.
There is an old saying "Evil thrives when good men(and women) do nothing."
They love to talk big but now they have gone back to the physical threat issue. Again. advocating bats, steel toed shoes. etcetera...
I'm not worried about myself or my other half, after all, I do own a gun and am a very good shot, the thing that bothers me, how many teens will see that and attempt the same thing? Do you think that Yahoo doesn't consider that by allowing such trash on this site, along with kids, they will not be held responsible in any deaths/damage that ensues? At the very least it would make a very damaging press release. I wonder what other services take on the situation might be(especially ones that are supposedly partners/clients of Yahoo)?

I think I might send a few emails and find out.

I dont think the threats made here could be prosecuted very well because the basher would claim they dont know who you really are and there was no intent of actually caring out the threat.

You will never get rid of the bashers , only the threats of violence.

I dont think yahoo is going to release and ip addresses with out a court order , and I dont see that happening unless somebody was actually killed.

This site is used for entertainment , so the bashers will stay and the people that want to reply and let off steam with their answers will be here too. Look at how many people respond to the bashers vs. the real questions.

They will always be there... I'm glad we all are reporting to Yahoo! and someone took it even further.. ignoring is a great weay to "keep them moving". I think Yahoo should shut them down quickly when they get investigated and reported on. Block out their email addresses for any future responses, and keep them on file for any government agencies to have. Prejudice doesnt just start and stop here... If they are at this forum doing and saying hateful things, they are in the world doing the same thing!!!

1. People need to STOP responding to them.
2. We need to have a system in place that will allow for us at level 2 and above to vote down a question 10? times and the question gets erased. I see that as one of the only methods that allows for us to control content without Y!A having to hire someone to do it, and it'll work because the basher is usually the same person reregistering on a level 1.

EDIT:

Notice how your question has fewer responses than that of a basher asked after you?

Listen to the Drama Queen.

I would have thought anything written on here can't be used in a court of law due to Data Protection laws.

So take that to your negative little group and anybody else that cares to listen to your silly ranting.

Words are only words. There are Gay folk that have actually been physically battered and you sit there moaning about words and you know yourself most of it is probably kids having a laugh.

Get a life and get rid of that chip on your shoulder. Be big enough to let kids have a cheap laugh at least there not out there doing anything physical, although the way you are behaving it will only turn more of them against the community.

Clown!

I've always been for ignoring them. That type of person thrives on any kind of attention at all, and it only makes them feel a false sense of power when they create havoc or know that they've made someone angry. They have no idea what a bore they are, or that they haven't had an original thought since Charro wore a training bra.

Would it not be fair to only click on the questions that interest you, rather than policing everybody? When you make trouble for people like that, you're really making trouble for all of us. The only time I report someone is if they are trolling for kids on the internet. All others are entitled to their opinion. Let's keep this site anonymous.

there is a huge difference between those that call names and think we're "sick" and those that actually continuously threaten violence...and I will continue reporting them at all times. someone who is that advocates that much violence online more than likely is violent in real life. there must be some way these people who are that threatening can be traced by their email or ip address...and permanently blocked.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. But it is just that an opinion. If they don't like the lifestyle someone chooses to live and talk about then they shouldn't visit the site.

Unfortunately this question will probably get bombarded with bashes because it was posted on the main page. Hate is everywhere, there is nothing we can do to avoid it.
