As far as rock music goes, sure. And to the fool who mentioned stevie ray vaughan as being better, who do you think he was trying to sound like all the time?
Hendrix was an innovator, most guitarists today are merely emulators. There are people who are talented and very good technically but that doesn't make them great creators of music which is what Hendrix was. Also consider the fact that he died at such a young age and what he would have done were he still alive today.
If you talk to any of the great rock guitarists today they will all tell you how important hendrix was at least the honest ones.

YES i think jimi hendrix is good but he isn't the best.......... Stevie Ray Vaughn is definately the best ever if you listen to his music he has a perfect sound. All the notes fit perfectly and it gives me chills everytime i listen. He takes that sound that you think of in your mind and plays it and it is AWESOME

it depends on style.
Les Paul. W/O him we would have no electric guitar or any multitrack recording.
And therefore, Jimi Hendrix never would have been able to be so innovative.

i do...because Hendrix himself said that Eric Clapton....he told him this mostly because Eric could play the same stuff over and over again ...Hendrix played something awesome once but never could play it again!
