Hi. I've been in the same kind of administrative office career for the last 10 years or so and think I need a change. I'm not sure exactly what to do, because all I have is work experience and no degree.

Is there any kind of career counselor that I can talk with to help me figure out where to go from here? Where and/or how can I go about looking for someone like this? Thanks!

i just recently changed careers and i had a degree in the career i left it is a difficult change and it takes a lot of research the main thing is money. it is difficult to find a job to pay what you need. i saved a lot of money (at least 3 months of pay) then found what i wanted to do and switched to it but make it gradual and i would try to go to school part time so you can get back to the level you were at except in a different career.

Transferable skills would be your selling point in finding different type of work. The skills you have could easily be used for other sort of jobs. For example typing and computer skills could be used in almost all professions. Yet if you want a professional job like accoutant, stock trader, etc., you need to go to college unless you know someone. That's the best way to go about finding any job is by knowing someone who is kind enough to assist you.

CAUTION - do not look online at work or any work-related internet connection, your company human relation people snoop employment websites looking for "disgruntled" or "unhappy" employees and can make life rough for you and sabotage any efforts to take jobs within your field by putting unkind things in your personal file.

Hi Emma,
May I point you towards a great resource? You have a huge life experience (work, personal) that can be tapped to your financial advantage.....and you can keep doing what you are doing so your income can continue....at least for now.
