if looking for internal: you could always try the easy answer and visit the Dell website I dont think they do order options for that anymore, other wise you could look at other specs for the same laptop type but higher spec.. could using there support section.

if looking for external types: you will most probarbly have to match USB types... couldnt see on spec list if this had usb or not... but i think most if not all devices like DVD burners look for minimum firewire or usb2 due to the amount of information that have to communicate.
If you have got the right type of port then have look at the Dell website as it should give you an idea of what specs work with a dell computer as they would have been test at somepoint.

good luck

You could always get an external dvd writer - that way it will work with your machine and you will have a better range to choose from. Either a USB one or firewire if you have the ports.

just buy an external DVD writer they're more expensive than internal, but I'm not positive if you can replace dvd internal cd drives. so stick with the external.

If you are wanting an external drive, then any brand will work as long as its pc compatible.
