Although they aren't cheap, I adore my own Tablet (Motion 1600) and have found that the battery life (with the standard battery alone) is impressive -- 3 hours +. With the extended battery (on my Christmas wish list!) the battery life jumps to 7-8 hours +.

This particular model is my primary machine (and I'm a techie with a tendency to be a bit hard on machines -- I push them!)

I've had no problems with multitasking, having multiple windows open -- including multimedia and intensive graphics programs -- at one time. I find that the graphics card is pretty impressive (it renders Civ IV beautifully, for example) and the overall package is a great slate-style option for a tablet.

Personally, I prefer the slate because it dramatically reduces the weight I have to carry around -- and I can hook up a bluetooth keyboard and mouse when I'm at the office. I use a portable outside brand fold-up keyboard when I'm on the road and need to be able to type. Mostly, when I'm carrying it, I use the inking capabilities -- and the slate isn't so heavy that it wears out your arms from carrying it.

If you are looking for a good heavy-duty-use slate style tablet, I highly recommend the Motion 1600 model. From my own experience, it's the best of all worlds.
