I would be freaking out!! Then I would retrace my steps and try to find it. Check every where and if you have been to any stores call them and give a description of your ring and give them your number to be reached in case someone turns it in.

I lost my wedding ring and looked for it for along time, finally I just stopped looking and figured it would show up, then I tried to convince my husband he didn't get me one and that I only had an engagement ring. Finally I accepted that it was gone and I was sad but I'm hoping my husband will get me a new band. It'll mean the same since it's from him. I would not replace it myself. Maybe you should let him suffer a while then replace it with another one with all your love.

Don't wear one. . .I'm allergic to most metals, including gold. But if I did, I suppose I'd do all the usual things -- put out an ad in the paper, check the house and have someone else check, too, etc.
I'd tell my husband first thing, though, and let the chips land where they may. As treasured as a wedding ring might be, it's still a material object, and things unfortunately happen sometimes.
Edit:
I just saw your postscript. No, I wouldn't kill him unless I thought he'd taken it off for nefarious reasons.

I lost my wedding band twice. The first time was on a wedding anniversary trip, on the beach the tide came in and took it off my finger. I left a note at the front desk of the hotel to call me.
The second time, my son dropped it in the toilet and I didn't notice until after I flushed - then it was too late. Both times I told my wife. She bought a replacement for the first one. Now I have a wide silver band made in Mexico that I picked up at a festival.

Have a panic attack, cry, and then tell my husband and hope he wouldn't get too mad at me. :-( How sad! I hope that didn't really happen to you.
Edit: No don't kill him! I'm sure he didn't do it on purpose. Sometimes it's hard to bowl with a ring on your finger. Be forgiving. It's just a ring. He loves you the same whether he has his ring or not. You can always go get a new one together. It will be ok :)

I would ask him WHY?!?!?!?! He should've kept better track of it. They will find it eventually, so if the bowling alley has a lost and found maybe go and look for it or call the bowling alley and ask them to search for it. Or you could just get a new one.

I lost mine working in the yard. I was wearing work gloves and took them off several times. I felt so bad when it happened. My wife bought me a new one last Christmas, but it just isn't the same. I know the general area, but I need a metal detector because it might be in the garden.

My husband lost his. Don't sweat it. It's just jewelry. We got another one, and later we had a priest bless it.
I also lost the diamond out of my engagement ring (15 years after we got married). He just bought me an even more beautiful diamond to replace it. I love that guy.
