I work in the operating room. I am a surgical technician. I work hand in hand with RN's. Although a nurse does not have to have instant recall of page 54 in the Chemistry I textbook, a nurse does have to have a general knowledge of the body and how it works.
Nurses DO have to know a great deal about drugs, patient reactions to those drugs, CPR, how the heart works, how lungs work, symptoms of seizures, stroke etc.... All of these things are learned in the science classes. The staff who support doctors and surgeons usually know just as much, if not more than they do. Nurses are the people who will get to a patient FIRST.
If you are in nursing school, you will quickly find this out when you go to clinicals. Hope this helps.

Because you have to study chemistry biology and anatomy which are all considered sciences.
