What is the U.S. equivalent of a 2i honours degree? I found this term on the University of Cambridge website. I am looking into doctoral programs and one of the requirements for admission states that applicants should possess:

- at least a 2i honours degree from a UK university
- an equivalent standard from an overseas university

I appreciate your help!

It will most likely be graduating c.um laude or magna c.um laude - I graduated magna c.um laude and usually tell people that's like getting a first or high 2i!
I'd write to the administrator for the course you're interested in and ask about your specific GPA/College - obviously some are tougher than others.

The other option is to get your qualification evaluated by NARIC, they'll tell you what UK qualification your degree is equivalent to, but you have to pay £20 or so - http://www.naric.org.uk/ .

I think contacting Cambridge directly is your best bet, all the places I've enquired about graduate programmes have been happy to take my US degree as is, without a NARIC seal of approval.

I can't believe Yahoo tried to censor my honors degree!
