If there were an absolute truth I would want to know it. But I would not want to try and make anyone else believe it. If they were supposed to know it, then like me, they would. It has nothing to do with social standing or a comfort zone. It has to do with respect and trust.

Yes, I have given up those things to know the absolute truth, because that's what it took. I was shown it, but only to my small capacity.
Every time you stand up for truth it's not a risk, it's a sacrifice. Truth brings out people's worst fears, so, if you are candid about your truth, well, you better be very strong or very graceful.
Extending knowledge of the absolute truth would mean it was delivered through you without your interference. Otherwise, it's just your desires at best and arrogance at the worst, and only harm will come of it. I would do it if I were so guided by God, not by a man or an emotion.

If there were an "absolute truth", I would want to know it and if I believed it wholeheartedly then I would stand up for it but I would only extend it to those open to it. I am not an aggressive person & certainly wouldn't try to bully anyone with it. This usually has the opposite effect anyway. If they are resistant and have an opposing view, you can not make someone believe something, no matter how true it may be. I couldn't care less about social standing though. If my beliefs make me unpopular, oh well. I'm not going to fake it to fit in.
Anyway, I don't think that there is such a thing as absolute truth. I think that it is always relative. Exceptions to every rule.
I have faith but I remain open-minded & have a healthy curiosity about other points of view. I will express my opinions & beliefs when asked but I never go out of my way to convert anyone to my way of thinking (you can't make an atheist believe in God etc) or shove my beliefs down anyone's throat. I won't go knocking down doors telling people they're going to be damned if they don't subscribe to my particular religion. I am accepting of those with different views. Unless they believe that it's right to hurt others & then I am completely against that and I won't stand for it.
The truths that I know and hold dear are mine & I don't expect anyone else to have the exact same ones. Nor do I care. We are all entitled to our own opinions (based on our unique personalities, life experiences etc). So long as you live the best life you can & don't hurt anyone, fill your boots! Whatever gets you through, man. We're all on this planet together. We should try to get along.

If I could know the truth, the absolute truth and it meant that I might have to turn my back on my existing political, religious, and social beliefs I would be willing to stand up for the truth and risk social standing to extend my knowledge to everyone.
In my opinion and based on my studies and knowledges, I think I know the absolute truth and it doesn't stop me from putting my best foot forward because I'm as normal as everyone else. I do as God wants me to do and he takes care of me because of it.

Based upon my past experience I'd have to say "No". The absolute Truth is that I'm a comfort junky. I wouldn't mind turning my back on political or religious beliefs, as I pretty much do that anyway. But I like having friends, even if it is based only upon the absolute truth I like having friends.

Interesting question. I think many of us live our lives not based on the truth - not even close to the absolute truth. I certainly do not think that most people will be able to afford to stand up for the truth and risk everything they have. I can honestly say that I am not ready for the absolute truth in the philosophical sense but I do what the truth on all practical matters.
I have once asked a good friend who was studying for his PhD in the philosophy of science how could he believe in God and go to church every week with his family. He told me that whether these was God was not important because he was comfortable with the life style that went with it.

Yes, I would stand up and i do stand up for the absolute truth. You only get to live one time, you must express your thoughts to the world if you want to make a difference in this life time. The system wants you to believe what the the system wants you to believe. Search and explore for the truth and you will find the truth. I have and once you do. Go out and tell everyone. Remember Socrates, he did it, and he got in the books. If it has been done before, it could be done again.

My dear, this has been my mission since the age of 17, I don't do politics, religion, or social beliefs, I do stand up and practice what I believe in while not forcing others to my beliefs. I may plant seeds, or have conversations sharing my knowledge, this is enough for me. I've been told numerous times , what will you do when ?, but I know, and that's all that matters to me. I take no part in this world, but live in peace. People say I'm lucky and that things always come to me, but the truth being, I know. So they do and will come to me. Do I suffer? some may say, do I care ? , well of course, but does it matter ?, not a bit. the absolute Truth is summoned up in two words. GOD IS, and that my friend is all there is. may peace be with you.

I think life is too complicated to have an absolute truth. But if this amazing truth suddenly struck me, I would accept it for myself, and I would share what I knew wouldn't be beyond the individual or group I was talking too. Having absolute truth, I would know what I needed to do to prove certain aspects of it to others. I wouldn't try to exert anything I knew was impossible for others to understand. I might even let out a couple things I knew I would get condemned for at the time, but that I knew would bring others enlightenment eventually.

I kind of turn my back on the status quo now, so If I knew it to be the absolute truth. I Would definately risk everything for it. I would have to be 100% convinced that it is the truth and it takes a lot to convince me.
