well, if any, i would go for a shaman, but if you want to be alliance and know how to use a paladin, use it.

Although you might hear that there is no "best" class, there are some that are better. If you are going to be playing seriously and plan on really getting into it, I would advise you to be a class that is needed more. Healers are often in demand, as are mages and warlocks. I would advise against paladin class, as you will see a huge amount of them as soon as the expansion comes out and both races are allowed. Shamans will have the same story. Try to pick from the caster classes, as you will find them more fun to play and not as gear dependant. I chose warrior, and now I regret it because I have to work twice as much to get good gear before Im considered good. Mage, Warlock, Dwarf Priest, or maybe Druid would be my advice.

There all good if you know how to use them.
Visit http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/paladin/ for more information on Paladins.
Paladins are good for PvP, and offer long fights. But if you want to run instances like MC, BWL, ONY and others, your going to have to go holy because almost no paladins tank at 60. They only heal. Overall, they are good. But dont complain if they say "OMGWTFBBQ PALLY YER SPOwsE TEW HEEL!".
P.S. I am bored.
