For instance, Zaroff “has ceased [hunting]'; because all the animals “had become too easy'; to chase; but one animal has a certain characteristic of being “able to reason'; which rekindles his passion for the thrill of the hunt (68). The vague statement at which Zaroff makes at Rainsford obviously hints toward humans as being the animal of reason because referring to the statement Rainsford makes in the early stages of the story, he asserts that animals do not feel or think. Now that Rainsford conceives the idea that Zaroff hunts humans, it provides Rainsford with a frustrating mental reaction of fear and anger
The first example is Rainsford and Whitney's discussion of sport hunting. The two sailors discuss whether or not the hunted animals have feelings, the fact that the world is divided into the hunters and the hunted, and that they are both glad that they are the hunters. While the reader at this point can really have no idea of what is going to occur, the mention of hunting neatly tucks the idea away in the reader's mind.

do you go to dhs?! lol..
just wondering cuzz we just read that tooo
ok wellllll...........
there was
the name of the island "Ship Trap Island" which sorta foreshadowed that ships were trapped there
"pressed its thick warm blackness in upon the yacht" which sorta had a murder type of hint to it..since it was black (death) pressing upon something
blood warm waters...i sorta thought that foreshadowed sum1 being killed by drowning or falling into the waters......
the pistol shots...........could symbolize a forshadowing of sum1 being shot
and..
"This is a most restful spot." ....symbolizing RIP!?
i just took out my english notebook and gave u 5 from it cuz we hadta take notes of death imagery and devil imagery as well as foreshadowing while reading the book lol

Dodging reading and interpreting a lengthy novel, I understand. Dodging a short story? Now come on -- that's just lazy. No excuses.
