It is indeed illegal for a dealer to sell a bike that has a salvage title without informing you of that. Specific rules differ from state to state. In Virginia, they basically have to have you sign a form stating that you know it's salvage. You have legal recourse in these matters, and can go to any lawyer to have them gleefully pursue your case, cuz it's a no-brainer. Or, you can just go back to the dealer yourself and let them know that you know your rights, and see what happens...but I'd have the lawyer retained. And start checking your state's dmv website for links to the state's laws and regulations on sales of salvage vehicles. In virginia, it is a class one misdemeanor you're talking about.

Carfax of course for vehicle history. But If I recall correctly, I've tried to get a vehicle history report for a motorcycle with carfax, and it wouldn't recognize the VIN. And fair warning: Carfax is ridiculously fallable. Sometimes you can find some clues by checking with the shop that worked on it, or checking in with the franchise dealership for that brand (a toyota dealership may have some info in their systems if the previous owner had it serviced there).

The identify historic past shows the dates, places of the place the motor vehicle replaced into offered and purchased. No, it won't teach the previous proprietors call, to obtain that style of information, you will possibly prefer to bypass in the process the customary public Disclosure dept, and pay a small value. There could be different standards to qualify to boot. you will no longer obtain own training while inquiring for training approximately autos.
