Society affects people without them noticing, following fashion, listen to the most popular music. Even the people that rebell against them things copy the other people that have rebelled.. Is anyone in the world actually 100% individual.. Does anyone think I am.. or Am I not because I am here on Yahoo... like all of you, and My clothes were made by companies that make clothes for many people, the bands I listen to have thousands or millions of fans, does all this have to affect me..or has society already effected me so much that I listen to that type of music.. Is it even mathematically..scientifically..psychologically or philosophically possible for someone to be totally unaffected by society...in any way.

People in a cave would have been affected by weather change due to societies of the world and so they would be effected, from the answers so far I have an explanation of life.. life is options and chances..you take some and you rebel from some.. and at different levels, so depending on what you let into your mind..makes your mind..and will effect what you let into your mind in the future

I don't see how anyone could say they are NOT affected by society. We are on the planet with each other, we form pockets of society. With freedoms comes our responsibility to our fellow man and society. We act and our actions have a consequence on the society and people around us.
Even if you wanted to say that you are not affected by society, the mere fact that you acknowledge its existence and chose to reject it indicates that you are affected by it and have chosen to try and reject what you see.
...... but that's just my opinion!

Hi,
This is an interesting question that you have raised. To give you a way of looking at the question, I'll delve a bit into some Ancient Greek Philosophy. (Don't worry, I'll be brief and hopefully not too boring,)
Aristotle (who was once tutor to Alexander the Great) once described humans as the "political animal."
What did he mean? Political comes from the Greek word "polis" which means literally "city." In other words, a true human, according to Aristotle was one that integrated into his larger community and had a say in it.
I think Aristotle had a point. You, as a human being, have to participate in society and do good for your society. I am not saying that you have to follow the latest trends or buy what everybody else buys. However, to participate in society in a meaningful way is the only way to be "human." I would argue that to be the "hermit" on the mountain, you would need at least another person to believe that you are such. In other words, it is other humans that make you human. To shun humanity is to shun yourself.
Archaelogists and Anthropologists believe that even in the Stone Age, humans lived in groups of up to forty or so people. We are designed to be gregarious, unlike a bear.
Anyway, hope I haven't bored you.

this question of yours is a very good one but it is also complicated to answer too. Unless a person lives in a cave out in the middle of nowhere and has a bsolutely no contact with another person, they will be affected by society in one way or another. Just talking to people can have a larger effect on you than you can realize. There are no current day people that I can THINK OF THAT has not been affected by society one way or another. The thing is though you have to look at the inside of yourself and decide how much you will allow society to effect the person that you want to be.

Life is a circle, you create your own. If you rebel against one, you get out into another one.
Take what you like and make it your own.
Disprove what you don't like.
Make no compromises.
Try and get a freelance job.
Even the people most free, i.e. the rebels, the rock stars they need the approval of their fans cos they buy their records so they fall back into their circle.
We live together so make the best out of it in your way!
All water has been drunk before.
All food has been eaten before.
All money is borrowed.
You have one life, Grab It!
