That's Great i always agree with travel. I think all of them are amazing .
London : 5 days ( but London is busy , if you want to see everywhere may be you need to spend one week there )
Athens : 3 days
Greek islands : ( all of them 5 would be enough)
Istanbul : 3 days (But i recommend you to visit Antalia as well )

Parius which is in Athens a short bus journey from the airport and take your pick of island in the cyclades, they should tell you the next departing ferry and the journey time and you can also frind out how many times the ferries leave the island you have chosen in order to plan your route.
I did Kythonos - It was very quiet but i did go there in 1988
from there to Naxos - lovely place
Santorini - Very American it was great! (I'm british!)
Mykonos - Very Gay but a huge amount of fun! (I'm straight)
This was over a two week period and the ferry journeys were between 2 & 5 hours per island. We were met as we got off the ferries by hoteliers who wanted to rent a room at the time it was extremely cheap but with the innovation of the Euro prices seem to have risen!
We stayed in a youth hostel in Athens....never ever ever would i do that again, it was ike a drug den
London - although i live 13 miles away i can't pass comment but i would say you would need at least a week here to take it all in, and it's expensive, but you can find some nice hostels here look on the YHA website (Youth Hostel Association)
Flights from London to Athens are pretty frequent if my memory serves me correctly, check out easyjet at other city breaks, they are cheap flights and i have never had a problem with them. You have to book early but the check the flights daily as the prices go up and down, and avoid our school holidays as you will pay a fortune!
ENJOY!!!

To do justice to all of these places, plan on spending at least a year on this trip. If you can't afford that much time:
London (one week)
Travel to Athens - by plane (3 hours)
by train (2 days)
Athens (3-4 days)
Islands (any length of time you care to choose, depending on how many you want to visit - there are 1,400 of them!)
Istanbul (5-7 days MINIMUM)

Fidget gave you the best answer.
Days in each city or each island vary on how well you want to get acquainted to the city or the area, but less than 3 days is really intolerable!
How many days have you got?

The question is do you want a relaxing holiday, or one where you tour the places that you want to go and see?
I would say 1 week in each place if you want to tour around a learn about the cities then go to the next place on your stop.
If you want to relax just spend 2 weeks in a single location then return home.
That's what I would do.
