Can I take kegs into Mexico? More importantly, can I bring an empty keg home from Mexico? Will I have trouble crossing the border w/ an empty keg?

I seriously doubt that the Border patrol will allow you to take a keg with you into Mexico.

Trust me, as a Mexican and frequent traveler via car and plane to Mexico, you are very limited in taking items over there in this post 9/11 world.

Buy beer over there. Corona Beer Totally Rocks!!
(It's my fave!!!)

Hmmm, I don't remember anyone checking the car on the way into Mexico. I think as long as you can prove (with reciepts) that you got the kegs in the US and they're empty you can bring them back across with you. I just don't understand why you would want to do that. Isn't beer cheaper in Mexico?

Never done it, but it might be hard to get it across to Mexico in the first place. Be prepared to be pulled over and questioned when trying to cross back over to the U.S., and possibly loosing the keg and your deposit. This will probably help you cure your hangover quick!

Why would you want to bring beer into Mexico?. Mexico maybe a lot of things negative but beer is not one of them. Mexicans drink beer a lot & they take their beer seriously. That's why Mexicans can't do much of anything else. Beer is so cheap and so much better there. I myself, having lived in Sonora for a number of years just love the Tecate beers (with a slice of lime please).
