All things considered, what is safer? Amtrak or Greyhound? I get panic attacks when I fly so that's out of the question. I'm a male in my mid-20s.

Amtrak hands down!!!

Not only is it safer, it is many times more comfortable and pleasant!
There is more room in the seats, there are places you can sit at tables if you like, you can use your laptop computer on it (far more easily than a cramped bus), can get up and walk around a lot, and the restrooms are roomier, cleaner and more convenient.

Also, the view from a train is often much nicer, and in a lot of places, a view you can't see in any other way. Sometimes on the train you can see wildlife you would never see from the road. There also isnt the frequent stops a bus makes.

In my experience, the train has been roughly equal in cost to the bus, providing the train makes a fairly direct route. (My most frequent travel is from oregon to BC, Canada .. straight line). If Amtrak is an option for you, take it! far more enjoyable than the bus!!

I have to go to the Greyhound station here in town about 2 or 3 times a week and let me suggest that you go AMTRAK.

I had taken a ride from San Diego to LA via Greyhound. The trip was just ok.
I had taken a ride from San Diego to Irvine & from San Diego to Camarillo via Amtrak. The trip was more comfortable, more roomier but a bit more expensive but it is worth it. It is just like riding a plane, however, this is better because you see the views. There are food being sold. If you are travelling for several hours, this would be the best!!!!

I took Greyhound from Florida to Ohio and I was a GORGEOUS(haha) 19 year old girl and I made it safe. Although I got viciously motion sick. So if you can hande it, or remember the dramameine, it should be fine. And its much cheaper.

I have found the train to be more comfortable, but the bus is cheaper, and it goes more places. You could drug yourself up to fly. Think of it this way -- how many people do you know who have been in car crashes? You still get in a car every day, right? How many people do you know who have been in plane crashes? You really are safe on them. I am done trying to twist your arm :)

Trains most def. they are comfortable, have a smooth ride and plus there is dining and way better bathrooms than a crowded greyhound bus.
