YES -- it is much better to be informed about what happens during the time you are in labor, at the delivery, and your care after the delivery than to NOT know these things.

I would really recommend some sort of childbirth class, but it doesn't have to be Lamaze. I would take a private class- not one at the hospital. The ones at the hospital teach you how to be a good patient and not make too much trouble- the private classes teach you how to give birth how YOU want to. I really recommend Birthing From Within. (Yes, it's a dumb name. It's still a great class). They don't have one "right" way to do it, but teach you the pros and cons of medications versus natural pain relief methods and how to cope with labor. I took the class with my daughter and it really helped. I know it's expensive but it is SOOO worth it. Same thing with a doula- I would never give birth without one.

i did no longer have Lamaze, seems particularly some attempt and money to learn how to respire in any different case. flow to the library and get books on distinctive birthing procedures. study "what to anticipate while Your anticipating" The being pregnant Bible!! I had my son emergency C-section a month early, yet I nonetheless don't think i might have taken the instructions. Why pay money to have somebody enable you to comprehend the thank you to have YOUR infant? there is not any assure Lamaze may even help you.

I went to one Lamaze class when I was pregnant and it was just talking about pregnancy symptoms and what not to eat stuff like that. I had to stop going cause I was so sick. And I managed to have my baby just fine. I don't think something like that can truly prepare you for what is going to happen. Good luck!!!

No, you don't have to. The whole point of Lamaze is to learn proper breathing while in labor, and how to relax and focus on other things besides the pain.

If you're planning a natural childbirth it might help. Also doulas are very good because they coach you during labor and know all the breathing techniques and other things you would learn in la-maze.

I have heard they are very helpful, however I didn't go to any classes. No one can teach you the actual way you will react when it comes down to being in labor and pushing.
Good luck

No, I went with my wife and we both agreed it was a complete waste of time. Everything they taught you was common sense. Don't waste your money, check out some books at the library and read about it.
