Is there really such a thing as truth?

No matter how hard we try to get to the truth, isn't there always a lie somewhere in the history of making it?

Don't we all once in a while work really hard on something halfway and then just say w/e and add all jibberish to it?

Isn't truth simply an opinion that has survived?

Isn't truth a lie that is the most pleasant to the people's eye?

Isn't truth rarely pure and simple?

What do you believe? Do you believe there is such thing as truth? Why or why not?

Truth is independent of human thought. For example, Mathematics, if there is simply opinion, then 2 + 2 = 4 is meaningless. Truth can be both simple and pure. The problem is we live in a society that has pronounced truth as relative to the subject viewing it. If truth is relative, then anything you believe to be true, could be false, or at least not accepted as such. If truth is relative, then A is A is a lie, and A is really not A, but something else, maybe B. Which makes our dialogue futile. Because we can have dialogue something is absolute truth, in this case the alphabet.

God said, " I am the way the truth and the Life" There is such a thing as truth. We lie because we have a sinful nature, or because we don't want to hurt people's feelings. Truth is complete, it's good, it doesn't hold back, truth can be a life changing experience. The reason we hold back on truth is because we really don't want others to be truthful to us. Truth can be harsh at times. Sometimes we do not want to know the harsh realities of our lives, so we would rather live the lie.

I have a truth to share with you. Believe or not, there is some truth in the word. That is, if one defines truth, absolute truth, as the inability to be false, as I do. I'm a bit of a skeptic and only rely on the truths that apply no matter what the circumstance. For this truth I will share, it is important that you take the time to understand it and think about it, and I hope you will.

There was a philospher long ago named Rene Descartes. He is the mainstay of the truth I will share. Descartes was a skeptic motivated to question everything he held to be true with the utmost scrutiny he could possibly fathom. He did so in his "Meditations on First Philosphy," "first philosophy" being a reference to metaphysics, or, the nature of ultimate reality. The following is how he found his truth, though it is a paraphrasing/summary of his work, and probably not worth a radical division of his true meaning:

I cannot trust what my senses tell me, because I could be dreaming, and in my dreams I often feel as though I am awake. I cannot step outside of myself to tell that I am not dreaming, so I could be, or could not be, I cannot tell the difference.

I cannot trust what I think and reason to be true, because I can also think and reason that a malicious demon might be in control of those thoughts. I can imagine both 2+2=4, as much as I can imagine that a demon is making me think/ reason this, when in the true reality 2+2 could = 17. I cannot step outside of myself to judge what is true, so I cannot trust that my reason is correct in either case.

I cannot trust a mixture of the two, sense and reason, to truth because if I were insane, then my perception of truth could be distorted into falsity in some way. I could be insane, and so I cannot trust the mxture of reason and sense to truth.

However, in all cases, whether I am insane, dreaming, or under the will of a malicious demon, I EXIST. I must exist to be insane, I must exist to dream, I must exist to be controlled. Therefore, I necessarily exist.

So there you have it. Try as much as you can to proove your own non-existence, without acknowledging your existence than you beat the hell out of anything Descarte did.

If the whole world believes and says that black is white does that make it so? I don't think so. A revolutionary would point out the flaw in this belief and present evidence that refutes it. Some would continue to believe that black is white despite evidence to the contrary. Some would join the revolution. But regardless of anyones beliefs, the truth would be the same.

A friend recently shared this line of truth: the story or script of all life is written by one hand.

there are some spiritualists who relate to this line of truth: no truth is greater than the lie. Of course, people interpret based on their individual take on what is meant. And that becomes their 'truth.' Is it true? We could say it is for them, even when we disagree or see from a different angle of vision. For example, I interpret "no truth is greater than the lie" as meaning: speak no truth rather than the lie. While I know some who much prefer altering, amending, exaggerating or completely making up the 'facts' to be what they call 'truth' or what they wish others to perceive the truth to be.

Ultimately, I believe truth is who you discover yourself to be. What is the first axiom: come to know thy own Self.

great question. enjoyed sharing my take on it.

There is no such thing as universal truth. The only truth that is really simple is mathematical.

Truth is facts. If it's not facts then it's more than likely not true BUT there are certain cases where people actually believe that some things are true even though they are really now. Sometimes you just have to see it from another's point of view....

a million+a million = 2 basically in this universe and basically because of the fact we've created an excellent selection equipment which makes use of those decimals. yet this breaks aside as quickly as we evaluate what we are including. If we are conversing approximately apples, what denotes an apple? notwithstanding if it somewhat is a sum of its aspects, then it is going to be hundreds of thousands of atoms being further. yet even those atoms do no longer differentiate themselves from the atoms around them interior the air. So the apple isn't even needless to say defined. the place does the apple end or initiate as quickly as we seem on the extensive see of debris which the universe is composed of. If we chopped off a guy or woman's head, how do all of us comprehend we are only no longer dreaming it? ought to all of it have been an tricky hallucination. we are able to in no way comprehend for particular.

yes that is truth, do you have a problem in what we perceive as truth, then become a truthful politician and try to win... and then try to change laws. truth isnt always what we want though, sometimes we take truth as it is and its dirty sometimes, and truth can be many things just not improbable lies...like how some people say that time travel is not possible
