a minute, aren't you suppose to do what's best for YOURSELF, regardless of what someone else thinks...because USUALLY, they do not know the WHOLE STORY...NOR SHOULD THEY???I would just answer politely..."well, i'll decide"....what is your take on that?

I agree that "I'll decide" is a very good response. But, maybe add, "and I respect your advice. .. thank you."

Maybe, just maybe....your friend, relative, or whoever has been in your same situation before. Maybe they experienced the pain you are about to receive for what you are thinking of doing. And MAYBE they love you and want to protect you! Ever think of that? Huh? No, of course not. Logic has no place in small minds.

Yes, I agree with you completely. I had a friend who was constantly doing that to me and guess what I've chosen not to talk to her anymore. Its my life, I can do what I want :) Too bad if you think its wrong or wouldn't do it yourself, I get to choose whats best for me!!!!
