If you mean the same as in they have both broken a federal law, than yes very similar. Illegal immigration is against the law, lets not dilute the truth. But we reward them, that would be like people protesting for the rights of the bank robber. Also they aren't citizens, so the way I see it they have no rights here. My great grandparents came over legally, so can every other person.

They are similar in that both are against the law.
They are different in that illegal immigration is a misdemeanor (minor crime), while bank robbery is a felony.
If you don't think there's a difference, consider trying to punish the following people all the same: someone who was caught speeding (70 in 55 zone), someone who was drunk driving (but didn't hit anyone), and someone who deliberately ran over a child. Three different types of crimes, three different levels of punishment.

I don't think I would go that far. I see them as more covert, perhaps a burglar or pickpocket.
