I know that Roy Osbourne did it, maybe Van Halen did a famous cover of it or something. Just let me Wikipedia this quick...
Of course the song inspired the movie with Julia Roberts and Edward Gere to the same title which was a big hit in 1990.. Here it is..
"The song was covered very closely by the group, Van Halen in 1982, however with David Lee Roth missing a verse. The music video for this version was one of the first banned by MTV. It has subsequently aired on VH1 Classic." -http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oh%2C_Pretty_Woman
That does it right there. Roy Osbourne did it originally while Van Halen covered it. The article didn't say who wrote it if Osbourne didn't himself but the Roy Osbournre vs. Van Halen dispute is resolved.

"Oh, Pretty Woman" is a song which was a worldwide hit for Roy Orbison. Recorded on the Monument Records label in Nashville, Tennessee, it was written by Orbison and Bill Dees. In 1964 the song sold more records in its first ten days in release than any other 45rpm single in history.[citation needed]

According to a search I just did, it was written by Roy Orbison and Bill Dees. And yes, Van Halen did to a remake of it.
