I want to buy the game off eBay, but are the PC controls really as bad as I hear?

This depends on two things:
1. What type of graphics your compuiter can handle
2. If you've seen the movies and if you understand them in their proper context
and
3. How you typically play video games.

1. While this game doesnt require a really good graphics card it takes up a lot of space. If you usually play other PC games with the usual keyboard set up, then you won't have to much trouble with it. If not, then I don't know what to tell you.

2. If you've never watched any of the Matrix movies, it will be very difficult to understand the game. If you've watched all the movies, but didn't entirly understand them to the point where you never have liked it or found it interesting, then it'd probably be best not to play it. But, if your a fan of the Matrix Trilogy and are very engrossed in the entire story, then play the game and I garantee you will like it (or at least most of it)

3. Every gamer has a certain style of playing. From how I have seen people play, here are two ways to define a gamers style:

1. Some play the game just to do some cool moves and kill as many guys as possible. They don't pay too much attention to the main plot and skip most (if not all) of the cut scenes. They're not very graceful and don't care if they accidently missed an objective, as they are totally emersed in killling as many opponents as possible.
2. Others play it as though they were watching a movie. They typically see the virtual world they are playing in with a mindset that takes every move and even running across the battle feild with a slo-mo like grace. They are usually engrossed in the plot and mission objectives, trying to fit themselves in the characters shoes and playing from this perspective.

To play this game and enjoy it your game play style would have to be the No. 2 style I listed above (but if you have a combination of both styles, then that makes you a more skilled gamer then myself).

So, in the end it all falls on Perspective and what type of perspective you have of life in general.

One more thing, if you get it don't over play it (don't do this with any video game. It makes playing a game get boring pretty fast. Hope this helps in your choice).

it really depends on the type of controller you have for your PC

DO NOT use the keyboard you'll hate the game
and Xbox360 controller works but it's kind of akward
a ps2 controller works too.. also akward

the big problem is that you can customize the controller map for the keyboard, but not for gamepads ( who ever decided this should be demoted )

The logitech Rumblepads and the Dual Action work pretty well...
you can play through the game without becoming overly annoyed

beside the controller problem it's a great game

yes these games can run without graphic card with a software called 3d analyze . you just have to set compatibilities to the game and save the batch files in the folder in which the game has been installed or you can download swift shader software and copy the d3d8 and d3d9 files in the folder in which the game has been installed i have done this and it worked wonders
