Apart from the money and "fame", could it be that they were abused, lacked a father figure, have low self esteem/worth, want attention?

Well. There is a huuuge market for it with a lot of money in it (thanks to men) so why not? I doubt that abuse or lack of father figure, or low self esteem have much, if anything to do with it. As we all know, going into the sex work industry has a pretty bad stigma attached to it as well, so I am going to discount "wanting attention" as well. Honestly, I would say for money. It's a never ending supply, really, for women to sell out their sexuality for men.

Unfortunately, underaged girls are sometimes coerced by corrupted adults to pose for pornographic publications. Adult woman, on the other hand, may enter the porno industry for a different reason than their younger counterparts. For instance, some do it for money while others do it as a stepping stone to a modeling or acting career.
Then, there are some cases of adult women who are also coerced (similar to the younger females) into porno by manipulative men and some women.

I would think that some women do it because they actually enjoy it.
I'm not sure why a woman who enjoys sex must be flawed in some way.
Why do men get into porno? Do they also have to have low self esteem, lacked a mother figure, or have been abused?

I would say all of the above. To be quite honest, and though some may disagree, I don't think that there is a single woman in the pornography business that actually enjoys what she does. I believe that they use this type of work--heck, sex period--to cope with their failed, complex, and/or troubled lives. (And by the way, I feel that the same can be said about exotic dancers, sexually promiscous females, etc.)

Normally the hot small town girl moves out to hoolywood thinking they will become a star, but the bar is rasied so high almost no one can make it. Then they get into b movies and a little porn.
Or they are just into it.

most women do it because they are desperate for a job and are on the verge of homelessness and usually have a child to support..porno is thier last option of a job and it pays well.
