Apparently the utilities were once planned out payments. They have since increased enormously. Are there any Government plans that help out seniors?

Yes. You. Didn't he pay your bills until you turned 18? It's your turn now.

There are relief agencies...Dominion Peoples (formerly known as East Ohio Gas) used to put information in with their bills about utilities assistance. Try calling them. Everyone's budget amounts went way up last winter...Ohio Edison (if that's his electric company) used to be really good about helping with making their bill workable...call them as well. There is always the department of aging that can send you tons of information about the programs available in the area...and the welfare dept. as well. The answer may be to move him into another type of living arrangement...smaller home or apartment or some of the new assisted living complexes that are in the area that include independent, partially dependent (needs some assistance) and then nursing area (full care). These are great set ups that in-able seniors to maintain as much Independence as they can while having friends and activities and their own things around them. Good luck, it isn't an easy situation.

My Father was 79 when he died. My Mother was 80 when she died.
As to your question. Yes there is help but it's really small. I took my Dad in to keep him from going without electric and gas. I took my Mom in when she was sick. North East Ohio can be very rough in Winter. Contact me at the link below I will help him.

there usually are some... but they also usually get used up VERY QUICKLY....so first come, first serve and it's all gone by December... when it's really starting to get cold... your county social services office should be able to help you find out more

and many of these programs have suffered cuts over the past few years... and energy rates have gone up... it's ridiculous..

if you want to look at some interesting issues... look into what Enron was doing energy wise to California to drive up prices... ick...

Hi,

I just answered your other question. On THIS question, Id contact your Social Security Office and ask them everything you need to on this subject. They may know what you can do or who you need to call. Good luck....I agree, theyve gotten really high and so has everything else. Our seniors need to be taking care of.

Yes, but i can't remember the name. Call the welfare department, they know it. He should qualify. They will send him a form to fill out. Call now, because it just started.
