Like for an example, a train was coming and your spouse was on the tracks. Would you jump in front of the train and die to save your spouse? I know that this will probably never happen, it's just a curiousity question.

Yes. I would even jump through fire to save her and one of my worst fears is burning to death.

Absolutly! It would be unbearable to go on w/out him. I wouldn't even want to try. ...and I just have to throw this in;
I don't understand these people that say, " I would die for my kids first."
Why? I mean, don't get me wrong, I love my kids and I don't want anything to happen to them, but should they die, they would go straight to heaven and my husband might not be so lucky. Also, when you married your spouse, you promised to "forsake ALL others, putting no one before him/her." That doesn't mean you just don't sleep with anyone else, it means exactly what it says, "You put No One else before your spouse." I don't remember there being any exceptions.

Your example sucks. jumping in front of the train won't change her fate.
I would do all in my power to rescue a spouse or a friend in trouble. I draw the line at killing myself in an attempt to help.
I might take a risk that would kill me though.

When you get married you become as one. So people should not get married if they are not willing to dye for each other. If jumping on the tracks would save my loved one than there would be no question in me doing so. .

I truly cannot answer that question now - I think when you are in that situation then you will act on instinct and not think about it...... I would say yes now - of course - but I'll try to stay clear of the train tracks.....

If I knew for 100% certainty that she would live then yes. Otherwise, probably not. One of us needs to be alive to care for our children. Tough call.

Yes I would - although I'd MUCH rather try to save us both. But I would willingly give my life to save my wife or son, they are my life. And I'd sell my soul for a cure for my son's autism.

I would try to help him, standing in front of a train would just kill us both.
