It is absolutely the most horrible pain. I felt like someone had worked me over with a baseball bat. When the contractions were at their worst I wanted to claw my way out of my own body to escape them.
I've had "non back" labor too, and although that was painful the back labor was so much worse.
My back ached so bad for days. With my other labors I was a bit sore, but nothing like back labor.
If you encounter it, try everything suggested to you and start trying stuff as soon as you realize it is back labor. Don't wait.
I had to lay in bed on my side and stay there because every time I moved the baby's heart rate plummeted. We tried counter pressure on my back but couldn't get it right because of the way I had to lay with the internal monitor on the baby.
My back practically aches thinking about it. I'm going to sign off now and go read a story to the child responsible for my back labor and give him a big hug----because he was worth every agonizing second.
Have a great day!

It feels like the most miserable lower back pain that you can ever imagine. It takes your breath away it's so painful. If you begin to experience this, you don't have to rush to the epidural. Go into a shower, stand up, or get on all fours and rock. Have someone push with strong counter-pressure on the area. It comes mostly if you are spending your labor on your back. The baby pushes hard on your back. As soon as you begin to labor get up and move around. Do NOT lay on your back.

Yes it does hurt. But when I was in labor I didnt even realize it. I just thought I was just having back pain from being so far along. Then all of a sudden I felt a sharp pain in my abdomen and my water broke. That is when the pain was very real and disturbing. I suggest an epidural. It is truly a wonderful thing!!!!! Then after it is all over you forget all about the pain.

I dont want to scare you but back labor is probably the worst pain i have ever felt that was all i had. When you have period cramps do you have back cramps well if you do then imagine that 100 times worse. I would recamend the epidural all the pain is worth it is the end once you see your baby.

Lots of pain and cramping in your lower back. I had it and it sucked. I still have problems with my back from it and I gave birth a little over 2 months ago.
