I need it for a school report, a sizeable list would be nice, for nobody can do the same person. I would prefer a poet over an author. .....For example, shel silverstein, robert frost, etc.

the "Oddyssy" and the "Illiad" by Homer are two good examples of classic books. Pretty much any book written by an author that had an impact on the world, published before 1985 or so would be considered a classic.
