the kid with one or both: is she happier or less happy with both than she is with one?

My guess is under most circumstances the 1:1 is happier since the spirits of the second child would be higher.

In the 2:0 case, the child without would be miserable and the nature of the interactions between the two children would be likely to make the first child more unhappy. Plus having an extra lunchbox would not bring the second child much extra happiness.

The situation where the 2:0 case would make both happier is if the child gave one lunchbox to the other. This would build friendship and both would be happier than in either previous case.

2:0 is happier. One kid is happy because he has a lot of food for lunch. The other guy is happy because he had a nutritious breakfast in the morning and will have a healthy dinner when he comes home -- and thus he does not need junk food that lunch boxes usually contain.

depends on how she was raised. if she was raised to think that the more the better, then she would be happier with having 2 lunch boxes. if she was raised to share and not be greedy and to be happy with what she has then she would be just fine with one lunch box.
