I buy almost all my clothing from Hollister, American Eagle, and Abercrombie and Fitch. My dad thinks its dumb how I buy clothes that cost 3 times more the amount than that of other stores. I personally find that the clothes there are cuter and fit better with the smaller sizes. What I dont really understand is why the people who make these clothes (from abercrombie, ect.) make them in better quality than clothes from old navy or cheaper stores...they are the same machines/people making all the same clothing, yet abercrombie charges 200 dollars for a coat and you can get a coat made by the same person from old navy for half the price!

Well, I think they are beter because they make clothes based on how tall, short, you are. As well as how big you are. Old Navy clothes don`t fit me as well. They are loose, and I hate it.

It's really a scam. Sorry but it's true. It has nothing to do with quality either. I think this is just something that people say because they just really like the Abercrombie brands, so are more partial to them. These brands were really meant for the older crowd. However, with the recent celebrity obsession, marketing budgets got higher and so did the prices of the clothing. It worked... because demographics proved the majority of sales came from pre-teens and teens from very wealthy or middle class families. So, basically, it's just a way for the fashion industry to make money off people so they get rich instead of you investing in your future...

the problem isn't that they make the same way all the clothes it's just that abercrombie, hollister and am eagle are much more popular than other teen stores. so they make the same clothes but just for another price because of the popularity. and also other stores might not be as expensive as abercrombie etc. because the owner doesnt want people to waste money!! haha! reach me if u like my answer!

First they do a great job of marketing -- the Hollister ads show really good looking guys and girls that are probably 18, 19, 20 and they're selling to a range that's more like 13 to 20 -- so they put "role models" in their ads; their target audience thinks that the models are really cool looking.

Then there's peer pressure -- if you're wearing one of those $200 coats rather than the cheaper ones, you will get a lot more attention and ooo's and ah's. The more difficult they are to get and the more expensive they are, the more attention you'll get.

What makes them better is the fact that you think they are better. I used to buy only Ralph Lauren, Nautica, etc... but now I never buy any of them unless they are in a thrift store or on a sale rack. You are correct to say all the brands are made in the same factories, as they contract out the making of their garments to foreign factories. After buying clothes from just about every brand, I have definitely arrived at the conclusion that the better quality of higher priced brands is power of suggestion.

They're not better quality at all. They're just "trendy". Everybody wears them without any idea that they're just walking advertisements. Think about it though, all they really sell in there is tee-shirts with their logo printed on them. Some of their clothing isn't all that attractive.. I've strayed away from those stores as I grew older because they just kept spitting up the same styles every year. It's so BORING. Want some change? Urban Outfitters. It's pricey, but they hardly carry any shirts with their logo on it and the clothes are so awesome!

I think it's because they are very popular clothes and since they are more expensive, you feel a bigger urge to buy them. A lot of people a pressured into buying at those store because they see "cool and popular" people wear them and they feel the need to wear them so that they can be like them. They see everyone wears it so they want to fit in.

It's not that. The price you pay is for the better name brand too. For example, a car is a car: it takes you from point A to point B. It is the same idea, whether it is a Honda or a BMW, but you would have to pay A LOT more for a BMW than for a Honda. So, that's the difference.

when you spend $200 on a coat you actually pay for the brand name as well. They're are expensive because people buy them cuz they're expensive. In my opinion, AF is not that great compared to other European brands :)
