If you're not ok with saying the word sex, then you're definitely not old enough. Beyond that, it completely depends on the individuals. You have to be able to responsibly use birth control, and to deal with potential consequences like pregnacy and STDs. You should also keep in mind that having had sex makes it a lot harder to break up with someone.

There's no age requirement as to when to have sex. There probably should be tho. And sex isn't a bad word so there's no reason to not spell it out. My husband and I dated for 5 1/2 years before getting married, and we didn't start having sex until almost 4 years into dating. I was 24, he was 25. Nowadays, it's not too common for people to wait that long. Most people have already had sex by the time they are 15 or 16. And if you're worried about your mom getting upset, then you are definately NOT ready to have sex! You should at least be old enough to make that kind of decision on your own without having to think about what your parents would think about it.

I'm assuming your not very old. Question is are you ready to face the consequences. Pregnancy is one. Sexually transmitted disease is life threatening. Do you want to stop being a care-free kid & be a teenage mother. Weighed down by all the responsibility. Or would you just like to be a kid for awhile. Do you suspect that your mother is right. Depends how old you are. If your 6 or 7 years old - WAY TO YOUNG. Try and wait till your married (and I know that's almost impossible) so I'd say 17 would be a good age to loose your virginity at - if you really have to. I don't think you can say the right age for everyone. Only you can answer that about yourself. One thing is sure though-- do it because you want to, not just because your bf wants to. You hav just as much right in making that decision as he does, and if he doesn't want to be with you because you won't have sex with him, then he is not worth it. I don't know how old you are, but there is always plenty of time-- no need to rush.

If you are asking you aren't ready. Your bf is a jerk if he is pressuring you - dump him because if you sleep with him you'll regret it for a long long time. Wait until you are ready-probably about 18 or so is a good age. Personally I waited until I was 20 and glad I did, if I'd slept with that first guy I'd hate myself today-he had syphilis(found out about 1 month after we broke up cause I wouldn't sleep with him). Stick to your guns, and wait until you are ready.
