The cheapest kind of iPod is the Shuffle, though you said that you do not want it. The Nano is the next biggest. It has a screen and the click-wheel thing and is a nice compromise between the Shuffle and the Videos. These can hold anywhere from 500 to 2,000 songs. They're a lot cheaper and look just as nice. I have one, and I've been happy with it. If you want a Video iPod, which can play videos but are much more expensive, then you're looking at anywhere from $250-$350.

You can get music for any iPod through iTunes, and you can also get videos and TV shows through there too.

If you want a less expensive iPod, then you can always get a used one.

Good luck!

I dont think iPod would fit you, since you want a cheap and not-so-fancy one. Check out the ZenV. Cheapest on for just US$89 (1Gb). It has a colorscreen and can display pictures. It's a very nice one for an affordable price.
Info about iPods: There's only 3 types of iPod now, the Video (pretty expensive), Nano and Shuffle. They dont make the other, older ones anymore.

ask around and check other models like samsung and panasonic.very cool /reasonable.BUT personal point of view & from experience from my friends,NEVER GET CREATIVE's Zen .expensive and very difficult to shuffle. Will regret.Of course, they hv no way to beat ipod nano.
