Yes, I graduated from an American university in May. There's no assistance available from the UK, I'm afraid. You won't be eligible for federal support but many universities do offer financial aid to international students - look for private universities, they tend to have more money to offer to non-citizens and residents?

Are you applying for graduate or undergraduate study? That makes a difference in what funding's available. If you go as a PhD student you should be able to get a stipend in return for working 20 hours a week as a research assistant. If you're an undergrad you will be reliant on grants/loan money. You can also work part time on your university campus to get a bit of extra money.

As you probably know from the visa website your family will be able to come with you, but your partner won't be able to work - supporting a family on a grad stipend would be very tough.

If you explain a little bit more about what type of study you're planning to do I can offer you some more detailed advice, but based on what you've said so far the best way to get information is to look at the individual universities you're interested in. You might also want to check out the website fastweb.com, they list some scholarships that non-US citizens are eligible for.

Short answer to your question is that you CAN get financial assistance as an international student - I received around $100 000 in grants from my university to cover some of the tuition costs.

you will possibly ought to get a scholar visa. with the intention to try this, you will possibly must be customary via a school right here. There are not any money attainable for a worldwide scholar. you will possibly ought to pay international scholar rates that are very severe and you will ought to show info which you have the money for all your college costs and residing costs until eventually now your scholar visa could be authorized. determine on having a minimum of $30,000 a 300 and sixty 5 days to qualify, and that's in all probability a low estimate.

I am not sure of the unis that will help, but there certainly are some. I encourage you to keep looking and if it is right, it will happen.
If all else fails, try to make it to Canada, There is a Great university I hear in Ontario, University of Toronto. But, as far as I know it is easier to get to the USA if one is in Canada for a while. I am not completely sure of the rules, however.
All the best to you. May all your right dreams come through!
