Tomorrow is Bonfire Night here in the UK (also known as Fireworks Night or Guy Fawkes Night), so there are firework displays going on everywhere and I don't like them.

I don't like the loud noise, I think they're dangerous if you're within about half a mile, and I don't really see the point. If I'm indoors and I can just watch from a distance it's not so bad, but they're still too loud (especially if I'm working early shift and trying to sleep!).

And I don't like fires, either, so I never go to bonfire parties.

I'm not disputing anyone's right to enjoy themselves, or trying to get them banned or anything, but I just wondered if anyone else actually doesn't like them, or is it just me?

(Oh, and it's in this section because I mean GAY fireworks, obviously! Please don't ask - I post everything here.)

Shyboy: Oh yes, I could do with some igniting, definitely. Or at the very least, something to keep me warm.

i worked as a paramedic for 20 years and i do not understand people who do not have a fear of fireworks. you are wise to consider the dangers they present because i have seen some horrors first hand. they are nice if done by professionals but i won't be there. there are more of us than you would think who are afraid of fireworks darlin.

I think you must be a very sensitive person. And I know many veterans who find fireworks difficult to relax around. So don't feel bad. You have company.

this is an interesting question. Ive never heard tell of such a thing.but if you feal that uncomfortable around them than i guess you should keep a safe distance. maybe a little companionship would help you make your own fire works ignite would be a proper suggestion.

I am not alone!
I have never liked them, they are explosives for heaven's sake, and most often in the hands of children. For fourth of July, I always go down to the basement and hide. Its such an unnecessary risk, I like all 10 of my finger.
Thanks but no thanks.

for fireworks a healthy respect is a good idea. they are explosives and can kill or maim if used improperly. you'll put someone's eye out with that thing.

Pyrophobia is not all that common but I could see where you might be a bit afraid.
