I am a lesbian twenty something and I don't feel any urge to get the house with the pickett fence yet. Is that unusual from your experience? Am I not taking things seriously enough?

The fact that you can be honest enough to state your opinion means that you know yourself well enough to not want so serious a commitment (settling down). People who feel the way you do want to establish themselves first in a career, get a good education, travel, experience life first hand, etc. You are not unusual at all. The day will come when you will want to settle down with the house with the white picket fence, a dog and a cat, 2 car garage, and your special soulmate. Until then do your thing, keep the wind at your back and smooth sailing!

It's not unusual for anyone to not settle down, it used to be, a few decades ago(before i can remember because i wasnt alive) but people with any sexuality rarely settle down for a long time. You are only in your 20's and that's still really young, you don't need to settle down, there is no rush, if you are going to be with someone forever then there is no rush for marriage..and so on.. take your time and play it right, just don't bend or break the rules.

Well, I'm 46 and single. Ain't lived in the same place more than three years in a row since 1978. I ride a bike 99% of the time. (I can, since I live in Florida!) Have not had a "steady" OL since I was in my mid 20's. I make good dough since I have an education. I don't really think I'm not "settled", but others do not agree. I generally tell them to &$%# off. I'm as settled as I need to be. It's all in your mind. I think the song title was (It was a stupid song, but true.) Don't Worry, Be Happy.

Live fast, die young. Leave a good looking corpse. If you are happy, it don't matter.

No it's not unusual. It just means you're not ready for the house with the white picket fence. Just live one day at a time, & be sure to live your life to the fullest every day. When the time comes for you to settle down, you'll know it & you'll be ready for it.

It's normal, especially at your age, to not be interested in settling down. A little part of me wanted to settle down when I was 14 and a little piece of me still does now that I'm 20. We all want it at different ages, if at all.

It's not unusual. Times are getting better as far as people living how they want without people trying to tell them what to do. I said they're getting better, but we still have a long way to go. Especially for homosexuals. They get treated so bad. For some reason, it's politically correct to denounce homosexuality.

You are taking time for yourself seriously, and that is better than jumping into things any day. Spoil the hell out of yourself, see what you want to see, eat cookies in bed, pack a bag and pretend your a gypsy for a month,,,whatever,,, just do it all, sweets, and take your time finding THE one.

What's the rush anyway? Why do you have to jump into something because others are pushing it. Take your time and then you won't find yourself taking the trip twice.
