Has new communication technology brought humans closer together? give your opinion! don't just put yes or no like explain! thanks!
my opion is no becuase we are not devoting enough time to our close friends and family. Most of the time we are using some for of technology, which gives us less time to talk and devote our time to one another.

Visiting someone by airplane is damn extravagant. Just hook up a webcam at the Thanksgiving table where I would normally be.

ITs done both. Technology has become a friend and an enemy at the same time. Everything has its time and proper place. Technology has played a major roll in tearing families apart. I have noticed at times in my family for example that when the computer is down for repair, my family becomes much more active together. However it does make it nice to talk to some friends who have accepted a job teaching English in Twain.

I think that new technology makes communicating and planning easier, but does not necessairily bring people closer together. Often it breaks people up because it makes it easy for them to plan a busy life without getting family time in.

It is like a great power: can be used for good, but is often abused and used for evil.

Our use of technology has been to separate us more and more from each other. Where technology should have brought us closer, we employ it to intercede between ourselves and others.
Caller ID to filter our calls, computers to harangue and insult without a face, organizing our lives to suit ourselves with blackberries and PDAs. Keeping ourselves once. twice, three times removed from our fellow man.

I'm really thankful for all kinds of technology that involves communication. Instant messaging especially. I have a friend that lives very far away from that I don't get to see very often. We keep in great contact thanks to IM.

surely otherwise how would you post your question and how would other people answer it?
In these discussions we are exchanging information and ideas for which we talk to our close friends and family also.
Every one understands now. As far as the immediate family is concerned you have to give the time that is legitimately due to them. It is your duty.

i agree with you i believe that phones fax Internet keeps us away from human contact you can tell when someone isn't used to talking face to face they look down use short answers but get them on-line or on the phone they can talk and talk so i think in some ways it does help like i can talk to my mom in another state without racking up a big phone bill but also it hinders our social interaction with one another
