Check out this link if you want to read research and not opinion.

There have been very few tests done on marijuana and pregnancy, and the ones done in the US and canada have been severely limited due to the following two factors. One is that, as pot is illegal, it is very, very difficult to find pregnant women who smoke it to participate in a study. The other reason is that in these two countries, among women who smoke pot, their ganga not only is frequently grown with chemicals but the women usually use alcohol, cigarettes, or other drugs as well.
This study was done in Jamaica where not only is it legal but the women involved do not drink, smoke cigs, or do other drugs.
If you're still unsure, just think about how big the hippie population was in the late sixties. if pot was really that detrimental, we'd have a lot of 25-37 year olds whose parents were hippies with a lot of physical or mental problems, and there certainly hasn't been any proof of that!
I'm not advocating for people to smoke pot while pregnant, but I do hope that people will educate themselves to the FACT that smoking cigarettes, drinking alcohol, etc... are WAY more detrimental.

Who in their right mind would take the risk anyway? It's their own baby for goodness sake. Surely people can give up such a selfish indulgent act for their own child (even if it's temporary). The effects are not visual by the way.
Here's an article I found that comes as close as I can find (below) I hope it helps. There's much more information there that might also be of help.
Good luck with that one.

It plain just isn't right. It has even been proven that men who smoke pot and get a woman pregnant, the child is more likely to develop a learning disability such as ADD. Now imagine what can happen if the Mother, the carrier of the baby, smokes pot. The pot damages the sperm. What about an embryo? Just not the smartest thing to do while pregnant....

there is no known source that says marijuana is bad or has any serious effect on the baby other than a smokey placenta (What to expect, When you are Expecting)...honestly...I know I am going to get bad marks for this one...but I dont think smoking everyone once in a blue moon while pregnant is bad....but again..thats just m opinion.

Illegal drugs are not good for baby or mom. It's also a really bad influence on her children. I'm certain that if she were to ask her OB if doing pot was good or not, her doctor would most definitely say no. If she's high on marijuana, her judgement will be impaired and that affects the kind of parent she can be while she is high. Hopefully she can be convinced that doing illegal drugs is not good for her or her family. Good luck.

Doing any drugs during pregnancy is bad. Just because it doesn't cause problems one time, does not mean it will never cause problems. When you are carrying a child inside of your bady, you need to think of what is best for that child-not what you want to do. You put your child first. "Indulging" in any drugs during pregnancy is selfish and irresponsible!

She is horribly wrong. All drugs (including alcohol) are horrible during pregnancy. If the children seem normal now, she either got lucky or the effects haven't shown up yet. They can cause diseases such as cancer in her children. Tell her she needs to stop immediately, or call child services/ the police if she will not.
