i'm not positive, but i think DX is short for deluxe, LX short for Luxury and EX is Executive. Dx is the bottom line- it mostly has the general basics included; LX is the middle line and includes an "upgrade" to power windows/locks and other things, and EX is the top-of-the line models, which usually has a sunroof, better stereo options and other upgraded stuff.

LX is the middle trim line. DX is the cheapest and the EX has all of the goodies.

All the letters used by car makers are just marketing designations.
They are used to describe certain option packages.
Honda uses LX to suggest a high-end luxury package.
