this has happend to me the one day and i was the only one to know the answer and my professor goes "here's 1000 points....but points don't matter" all stuck up like.

Professors are just like regular people (as much as they pretend to be better). Some of them are great, and some of them are jerks.
I had a professor who told everyone on the first day of class that he felt it was his responsibility to fail as many of us as possible. Then he made an effort to do just that. He delighted in embarrassing as many people as possible.
Most of us decided the best revenge was to pass the class. When I got an A, it really ticked him off.
Maybe your teacher asked that question expecting that no one would be able to answer it so that he could feel superior. When you were able to provide an answer it annoyed him, so he responded with a sarcastic comment.
BTW - it does tell you one thing about this professor. He watches (or used to watch) a program called "What's my line?" That is the signature line the host uses during the whole program.

Believe it or not, your professor is human, and was trying to add some fun to a job that he once thought he'd enjoy but is now stuck with.
He was trying to be Drew Carey from "Whose Line Is It Anyway".
He deserves your pity, and enough simulation of respect as it takes to get a decent grade.
