fathom. This started about the same time that i started watching old programmes on sites like UTube and Bolt. In fact I was doing nothing other than watching a show a moment ago and when I looked at my disk space on the C Drive it had gone down from 1.59Gb to 1.57Gb in the space of time that i was watching the show. In fact before I started watching the programmes my disk space was a lot more substantial. BTW I have deleted all cookies and files and cleared the history and cleaned up the C Drive but the space is still low. I have not added any new programmes or anything...
If there is a connection with going to UTube would could be happening and how can I fix it? Thanks.

Download and install the program clean cache. When you first run it you will have to tell it what items you want cleaned up each time it runs but it will clean up quite a bit of stuff windows leaves on your hard drive. You can get it at http://buttuglysoftware.com/

couple of quick ideas...

Did you download any software about the same time you started watching your films... sometimes if there is a problem with a program it can cause memory leakage...which means it doesnt clean up after itself, so it continues to take up more and more memory. This usually only effects RAM,but you have had virtual memory messages, so your swap file maybe compansating as it uses more memory. You can use your Task Manager to look at memory usage for the programs currently running.. if the memory used continues to increase for any of the programs (maybe one that you can remember installing) it may mean a problem.do the usual check for updates etc.. or uninstall it. Obviously search on the internet for any program names that your not sure of so you do not accidentally close a system process...
You didnt say how large your drive is but make sure it doesn't drop below atleast 15% of its size, 1.59GB on computer that doesnt have enough RAM could eventually cause problems.

Sounds like you have cleared all the internet caches, temps folder, cookies, recyclebin etc.... I once had a problem where I was watching Mpegs on websites (purely educational of course!) and eventually traced the problem to the mpegs being cached in another location on my computer.. another "my videos" folder that a program that i installed had created that i did not know about... so you could try to do a manual search for mpegs, mov, wmv or whatever format the films are.. remember to use " * " ... so you can search for all file extensions.. eg search for *.mov will look for all file with a mov extension... you may find some sites have stored clips somewhere else.

(not sure if it would be this one as you say the memory used is small amounts, where this problem usually show large drops in memory used and only when you view clips)

hope i gave an idea.. goodluck!

ps: always check for viruses if you have been visiting lots of sites and usually look for adaware as well.....you could always look in to getting a good firewall with virus/adaware detection... also most firewalls will let you know if a program is accessing the internet without you knowing it.

Click on START. select PROGRAMS, select ACCESSORIES, select SYSTEM TOOLS, select DISK CLEANUP.

It will take it some time, but will retrn a list of items that can be deleted and/or compressed to free up space on your hard drive. When it asks if you want to proceed, tell it OK and wait. It will take a while, but it will help you recover space.

Goos luck!

the virtual memory cache may have been increased by your pc to compensate for the running if you have low ram on your system...

Failing that run a virus scan, if you dont have a virus scanner GET ONE...
