Depends on where the cut was but the USUAL time to have them taken out is 10-14 days after they were put in. You can pretty much tell if the wound is healed enough just by looking at it but 10-14 days is the general rule. Start at the knot, pull it taut with a pair of tweezers, snip it and pull it. repeat with the rest then wash it with mild soap and water, pat dry and put a lil bit of triple antibiotic ointment on it. (Neosporin etc.) Watch for redness aroudn the edges and progressing out as this may be a sign of infection.

Hard to say what your doctor is going to do, as it differs from place to place. In some places, if he puts them in, he takes them out and it's all part of the package. In other places, that would be two separate procedures and you would be billed twice. The easiest thing to do is call his office and ask whether there will be an extra charge. If so, and you want to take them out yourself, it's no big deal. Just make sure the wound is completely healed before you pull the stitches out. In fact, many stitches today will dissolve and don't have to be pulled out, and that may be what you have.

If I were you I wouldn't do it...but that's me being a "wuz", a minor thing could become into a really bad one, so I would let the doctor do it. Besides I don't think the doctor will charge you for that, you should call and ask, there is nothing wrong to ask.

stitch removal is not normally a procedure you get charged for. but if you take them out yourself and end up with infection, you will get charged for that. normally the nurce will remove the stiches. if you have doubts then just call the doctors office and ask.

Well you can but if you take them out and you eventually go to the doctor or he calls you and he finds out you did it yourself. He may be a lot more rude to you. Trust me it happened to me already.

It is like taking stitches out of clothes. Simple. You should not have any problems. If it gets red, put some antibiotic cream on the scar.

Yea, I have done that. Just need some fingernail clippers, a razor blade and some tweezers. It's easy and painless.
