My company does not promote black people and they get the lowest raises every year. Upper management give themselves and their friends bonuses in excess of $10,000 and up. Employees are not paid correctly and they do not realize it. I have heard racial slurs, gender slurs, convicted pedophiles work here..it seems there are no rules at this company - anything goes (even sex in the gym) My conscious is telling me to notify some outside source. Should I? and if so who?....

I don't know if it matters but this is an employee owned company

I reported the racial/gender slurs to human resources and the employee was moved into an office away from other employees.

I have expressed all my concerns to the human resources dept and was told in so many words to mind my business, come to work and be a good employee

sounds like the courts need to be involved. call the civil rights office in your city....time for the illegal and unethical practices to be called on the table. you will feel frightened to take this step, but your courage will help so many others. Most of the things you have mentioned are illegal. if there are others who notice these things and agree they are wrong, you can file a class action lawsuit. go for it!

first of all, do you have documented, quantifyable evidence?

secondly, what kind of company is this?
Is it family owned, is it a coorporation, is it a small business?

do you have a human resources or labor relatations department?

have you confronted them with their racial slurs saying you are offended by them? or do you fear retribution?

do you have anybody who can back up your claims? are they willing to come to your side?

you could contact a lawyer

if you are black, contact a Black rights organization. I just went onto google and googled black rights employment, and clicked into this.

Equal Opportunity.

as far as the bigwigs getting raises and the underlings barely getting by, welcome to the world. I own't name companies, but two of the five companies I have worked with, well, let's just say the discrepancy was almost criminal. executives getting paid millions, and perks and severance packages, where those on the fornt lines were making minimum wage or only $7.00 dollars an hour.

what you can do is further your own education, and keep your eyes open for other jobs, and contact, once again, if you are black, a black rights organization and ask their help.

I feel for you, I really do.

I would update my resume and ask trusted people for a good recommendation. I couldn't work there.

You need to contact your states labor department and file a complaint.

either consult a lawyer about it where u can get advice about whether or not you have substancial evidence for a case, OR stay there till you find something better.
