They make you feel extremely calm and euphoric. It helps a lot with anxiety, even when you don't necessarily need it. It does sound like he's abusing them for this purpose. I completely understand your worries; you should definitely talk to him about this because eventually he will build a tolerance to the effects of the drugs and his normal dosage won't work when he needs it most (during anxiety attacks). Once you build a tolerance, addiction isn't far off. I took many anti-anxiety drugs before, among them Klonopin, Xanax, and Valium and ended up abusing them myself. It would make me feel really really calm and I didn't have to worry about anything. I haven't taken Valium in over a month but it was really hard to stop, I was only on these medications for 3 months but they eventually did more harm than good. I would warn your brother of the slippery slope he is treading. Best of luck.

Klonopoison withdrawal is more hideous than heroin withdrawal, yet this drug is legal! Not only wouldn't I recommend it for recreational use, but don't even consider it or anything else from the benzodiazepine family (Valium, Xanax, Ativan, Klonopin, etc.) for medical reasons.

are you on CRACK???? There is no prescription drug that is GOOD for recreational use. I hear methadone is going strong and killing lots of high school students since they are stupid enough to take the crap without knowing what they will do on it or how it will effect them. I dont recommend any prescriptions!!!
